Christians need to care MORE

Offended or not, it’s unshakably true that the majority needs to be intentional with what they’re already doing. The world needs H.O.P.E.

A pastor told me she won’t host community events until her congregation understands H.O.P.E.

Hospitality.

Outreach.

Prayer.

Encouragement.

A question to consider. What would it look like if the money we dumped into problems had more relational care tied to it? The people coming for food knew you cared about their interests. Someone from the group was invited to lunch on your time, with your money. The people protected from the elements had a person to think about when they’re back on the streets, knowing they have a personable friend to think about.

There have to be next steps. Helping people move from comfortability to the realization that their life matters! So their thought is, hey I can throw off my old identity for a new one in Christ.

You and everything given to you can be part of God’s plan for change. You just need to care more.

I recently ran into an ex-con I knew from my years working in the institution where he was locked up. He told me that a friend of mine, who also worked at the institution, watched his addiction take over, the officer hit rock bottom, and then experienced transformation. Losing his grandparents to a muder. Losing his wife and daughter because of his addiction, and losing his freedom was something this officer wasn’t going to let define his legacy. He used his testimony to inspire change in this ex cons life.

The officers story was the turning point of this ex cons life, His moment to walk in victory. College, a car, a job, a family. Working hard every day, wanting to be part of the change for people still trapped in addiction.

All of it happened because needs were met and relationships were built with intention.
